Volleyball Opportunities This Summer

Updated: 6 days ago

Hello Hurricanes Families,

While our indoor season has unfortunately been cancelled, there are still opportunities available to better yourself at volleyball over the summer. Here are two great volleyball opportunities opening up this summer. Please note, the boys sand doubles tryouts are happening this Sunday.

While we am sharing what we think are good summer volleyball opportunities, we are neither recommending nor not recommending that you engage in group volleyball activities right now. We advise that you do what feels right for you, your family, et al.

1. PHD Volleyball Clinics

PHD runs well coached volleyball clinics in our area throughout the year. We have known both directors for a long time and are confident they will run strong, well-coached clinics with thought for safety during this time of COVID-19 concern. Their next clinic begins in early July.

July 2020 Clinic Info "We will run the same set of camps for boys and for girls. We are not offering a co-ed camp at the moment. SIGN UP SOON, just over 2 weeks until we start."

July 7-9 (Tue-Thu): $150/clinic

  • 8:30am-10:30am: Boys Flight Club  (Attacking Clinic)

  • 10:45am-12:45pm: Boys Complete Player  (All Skills)

  • 1pm-3pm: Girls Flight Club  (Attacking Clinic)

  • 3:15pm-5:15pm: Girls Complete Player  (All Skills)

**** REGISTRATION NOW AVAILABLE **** Location: Fieldhouse Sudbury, 31 Union Ave, Sudbury MA 01776

Each clinic will split players onto 2 courts by age/experience/ability for level-appropriate training and play.

Health Precautions "Here are our initial plans for COVID-19 safety:

  • Limit people per court, and time per day — 12 people per court, 2 hours per clinic session.

  • If MA Phase 3 allows 25 per court, we may add more players for a better volleyball experience.

  • Campers will stay with the same group of players and coaches for the entire clinic, and must wear a mask when during breaks.

  • Required washing/sanitizing of equipment and hands - FREQUENTLY - at every break in action, before and after each clinic session.

  • We will have other protocols, some of which are specific to our venue. We will share these with our customers closer to the clinic start date.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please email us at PHDVolleyball@gmail.com."

2. All Angles Sand Doubles Tryouts

All Angles Volleyball Training in Taunton is offering sand doubles training for girls 15 and up, boys 16 and up. Players will receive coach training one day a week for eight weeks (including tryouts), with the plan to play in regional sand doubles tournaments some weekends. Because this competitive program has limited spots, tryouts will be held.

Liz Pedro runs All Angles Volleyball Training. She is one of the top women's doubles players in New England and has been doing a great job training beach players. From Liz:

BEACH TEAMS TRYOUTS Girls Ages 15-18: June 23rd 6pm - 8pm Boys Ages 15-18: June 28th 6pm - 8pm

Beach team tryouts are this week! All Angles Volleyball Training will be hosting tryouts for girls ages 15-18 and boys ages 15-18. Two rain dates are built into the schedule, so if there is rain, we will not reschedule. If it doesn't rain, you will get two extra practices! I've also added a possible tournament schedule below for you to review. Please REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS! The cost for tryouts is $20. You do NOT need a partner for tryouts. If you are selected for the team you will have your own input about your partner, but you will ultimately be partnered by coaches. If you make the team, the fee for the summer is $350. Tournaments and gear will be additional fees. Tournaments are generally $30-$35 per person, plus a membership fee if needed. It is up to the parents to provide transportation to the tournaments. Teams will be coached by Leslie Hubright, Katie Walsh, and Liz Pedro.
