Celebrating a Successful 2019 Summer Volleyball Clinic

2019 Hurricanes Summer Volleyball Clinics

Our Summer Volleyball Clinics ended last week and we couldn't be prouder of the growth and maturity that we saw happen in the past six weeks.

With 105 participants across five divisions (Y12, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced-Lite, and Advanced), this was the largest volleyball clinic we've ever run! We also crossed a huge milestone with this year's clinics - this was the first time that we had more non-Hurricane players participate than Hurricane players!

We are incredibly grateful that we have the opportunity to help spread the love of volleyball to the youth across Massachusetts.

A Huge Thank You

two people cutting a cake

This year, we wanted to give a huge "THANK YOU" to two of our club's unsung heroes, Wendy Chan & Alan Chue.

Alan is an irreplaceable part of the volleyball clinics, helping to set up and take down the nets, manages the volleyballs, and a ton of other miscellanous tasks that keep everything running smoothly.

Wendy is the backbone of the Hurricanes organization (reserving gyms, organizing tryouts, handling money, setting up hotels and transportation, and so much more) with little fanfare and credit. We would be lost without her!

The ENTIRE Hurricane community appreciates all you do for us. Thank you so much! ❤

Clinic Shirt Design

This year's clinic shirt was Pride-themed, designed for us all to come together to celebrate and appreciate each other as one community. We hoped to re-affirm our organization's commitment to inclusion, acceptance, and respect. Shout out to graphic designer Billy Chen!

Hurricanes in the News

We also welcomed WGBH reporter Anna Kusmer, who interviewed Men's A team member Larry Wang and Women's Gold team member Aubrey Tang, about the Boston Hurricanes' social impact on Asian communities in the Greater Boston area & the 9 Man volleyball significance to the Chinese community.

The interview is scheduled to drop Labor Day weekend!

Celebrating Community

And as always, we celebrated the last day of clinics with cake and freeze pops!

It was a pleasure coaching all of these young athletes, and we wish them the best of luck in their upcoming school and club seasons. And we hope to see everyone again next year!
